Sending Email Notifications

By the end of this guide, you'll have delivered gift card codes to recipients by email.
How email delivery works
When you enable email delivery for a batch, BatchCard triggers Shopify's built-in gift card notification email for each recipient. The email contains the gift card code, value, and a link to your store.
BatchCard does not send emails directly. It triggers Shopify's built-in gift card notification. To customize the email template, go to your Shopify admin > Settings > Notifications > Gift card.
Enable email delivery during batch creation
- Open BatchCard and click Create Batch.
- Fill in the batch details (name, quantity, value).
- Turn on Email Delivery.
Add recipient emails
You have two options for adding recipients:
Option A: Enter emails manually
- In the Recipients section, enter each email address and (optionally) a name.
- Click Add after each entry.
This works well for small batches (under 20 recipients).
Option B: Include emails in your spreadsheet
- Add
recipient_emailandrecipient_namecolumns to your spreadsheet (CSV or XLSX). - Import the spreadsheet as usual. BatchCard picks up the email addresses automatically.
This is faster for larger batches.
Deliver the gift cards
- Click Create (for new batches) or Send (for existing batches).
BatchCard delivers the emails. You can track delivery status on the batch detail page:
- Scheduled -- the email is queued for delivery
- Sent -- the email was sent (status inferred approximately 1 hour after send time)
- Failed -- the email could not be delivered (check the email address)
Result
Each recipient gets an email with their unique gift card code. You can track delivery status for every recipient from the batch detail page.
What recipients see
Recipients receive Shopify's standard gift card notification email. The email includes the gift card code, value, and a link to your store. The email template and branding are controlled through your Shopify admin under Settings > Notifications.
Troubleshooting
If emails are not being delivered, check:
