Exporting Codes

This takes about 3 minutes.

By the end of this guide, you'll have exported your gift card codes as a spreadsheet file you can open in Excel, Google Sheets, or any spreadsheet app.

Export a single batch

  1. Open BatchCard in your Shopify admin.
  2. Click the batch you want to export.
  3. Click Export as CSV.
  4. BatchCard downloads a spreadsheet file to your computer.

Export multiple batches

  1. Go to the BatchCard dashboard.
  2. Select the batches you want to export by clicking the checkbox next to each one.
  3. Click Export Selected.

BatchCard combines the selected batches into a single spreadsheet file.

What's in your export

Your export is a spreadsheet (CSV) file named like batchcard_your-batch-name_2026-05-20_143022.csv. It includes one row per gift card.

These columns are always included:

ColumnWhat it contains
CodeThe full gift card code. Included for active cards only.
ValueThe card's value.
StatusActive, failed, or cancelled.
Created DateWhen the card was created.
PrefixThe code prefix, if you set one.
SuffixThe code suffix, if you set one.
Batch NameThe name of this batch.
TagsThe batch's tags, separated by semicolons.
Shopify Gift Card IDThe card's ID in Shopify.

These columns are included only when they apply to the batch:

ColumnAppears when
Recipient Email, Recipient First Name, Recipient Last Name, Message, Notification StatusThe batch sends email notifications, or any card has a recipient.
NoteAny card in the batch has a per-card note.
Expires OnAny card has an expiration date.
Delivery StatusThe batch sends email notifications.
Scheduled Send AtThe batch is scheduled for later.

Note column

The Note column holds the private, per-card note from your import. It is for your team only and is never shown to customers. See the CSV format reference.

Open the export in a spreadsheet app

Excel

Double-click the downloaded CSV file. Excel opens it automatically.

Google Sheets

  1. Go to sheets.google.com and click Blank spreadsheet.
  2. Click File > Import.
  3. Click Upload and choose the downloaded CSV file.
  4. Click Import data.

Numbers (Mac)

Double-click the downloaded CSV file. Numbers opens it automatically.

Common use cases for exports

Use caseWhat to do

BackupExport all batches periodically as a record of every code created.

Exported files contain the full gift card codes. Store them securely, just like you would store cash or credit card numbers.
